Meet Nicki Wilcox
Professional horse trainer since 2002, Nicki Wilcox specializes in jumpers, hunters, young horses, and their riders. Her ability to train young horses—from their first saddle to their first time in a show ring—is evident in the young horses she had taken to Futurity Championships.

Nicki began training horses and coaching their riders while in college under Dion Dana, co-founder of the Colorado Hunter Jumper Association and the first winner of CHJA’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. While in Canada, she was mentored by Frank Selinger of St Georges Stable who won a bronze medal for Canada at the 1975 Pan Am Games. She spent 5 years training in Canada, from 2006-2011,where she rode several young horses to Western Canadian Jumper Futurity Champions. She also rode to several championships at Spruce Meadows, the world-class show jumping complex in Alberta. Another incredible learning experience was interviewing international caliber riders who were competing at Spruce, and writing a column for Phelps Sports about these athletes and their mounts. She also interviewed international course designers, giving her an education in setting courses to best develop horses and riders.

Nicki’s many hunter, jumper and equitation championships and equitation medals (many on young horses) highlight to her dedication to the equestrian sport. When paired with her passion for starting young horses correctly, her past accomplishments serve to ensure confidence—your horse training needs are in skilled hands with Nicki Wilcox Show Jumping.
